Many of the local dance events are described as 50/50 and offer a mix of ballroom, latin and modern sequence dances. Of the 30 or 40 new sequences dances introduced each year, only a few are danced regularly outside of sequence dance clubs and it can take a while before new dances catch on.

Recent dances beginning to filter through are; Saunter Shiraz, Sun Samba, San Jose Cha Cha .
